PRINCE2 course is a project management course which teaches the individuals about the PRINCE2 method of doing the project. There are various institutes which are offering the PRINCE2 course, but what type, of course, should a person take?
Yes, there are three different levels of the PRINCE2 course, which defines the different position of the individual as per the PRINCE2 Methodology. The three different types of PRINCE2 course are discussed in detail below.
PRINCE2 Foundation Course
As the name suggests, this particular level of the PRINCE2 course is designed to teach the beginners the basics of the PRINCE2 course. Moreover, this level explores the fundamentals, principles and the various terminologies that are used in the PRINCE2 course.
This particular level of the PRINCE2 course is designed for people who do not know anything about the PRINCE2 Methodology or about project management as it helps the individual in getting a basic grasp over the Methodology. Furthermore, one can even study this course on their own. Though various institutes offer a digital class for this course, one can even do this course on their own. It does not have any practical application and is only meant to teach a person about the basics of the PRINCE2.
PRINCE2 Practitioner Course
The practitioner level of the PRINCE2 course is designed for the individual to apply their knowledge in real-time situations practically. This course is for people who know the fundamentals of the PRINCE2 Methodology and are ready to proceed to the next level.
This particular course will teach the person how to apply the PRINCE2 methods in running and doing a project in a particular environment. Moreover, this course requires a guide and one needs to have a mentor. Unlike the PRINCE2 foundation course, one cannot do this course on their own. However, only certain people who have passed any one of the below exams can apply for this course, as this is a professional course.
- IPMA Level A: Certified Projects Director
- Project Management Professional
- IPMA Level B: Certified Senior Project Manager
- IPMA Level C: Certified Project Manager
- IPMA Level D: Certified Project Management Associate
- Certified Associate In Project Management (CAPM)
Only individuals with any one of the above certifications are eligible to apply for this particular course. The reason as to why this rule is made is that this particular course requires the practical application and only people who have enough theoretical knowledge in this field can apply for this course.
PRINCE2 Agile Course
The PRINCE2 Agile course is a combination of foundation and practitioner course of PRINCE2. It is designed to train the individuals about how to manage projects with the agile Methodology. Moreover, this particular level of the PRINCE2 course is available for anyone who wishes to opt for this course.
Unlike the PRINCE2 practitioner course, one does not have to do any course to learn the PRINCE2 Agile Methodology. It teaches the students about the various terms and methods of the agile framework. Moreover, it is useful in both normal as well as industries having an agile framework. The students get a certificate at the end of the course, which states that they know to do projects in an agile framework. It not only teaches the theory part of the course but even ensures that the students get practical knowledge and are allowed to use their knowledge in the practical field. However, to sit for the practitioner exam of the PRINCE2 Agile level, one should have any one of the certificates as stated in the PRINCE2 practitioner level. This is done to ensure that the person has enough knowledge to practice it in real-time situations.
As it is well known that one needs to appear for the PRINCE2 exams from time to time to ensure that he/she is certified, it is important to choose a course that would help them in revising the whole syllabus and keeps them updated. Moreover, by selecting a perfect course, one would be able to know the various tactics applied in the pRINCE2 Methodology and use it effectively. Amongst these three courses, one can take a beginners course followed by the practitioner, as it would help an individual in getting the basics cleared. The Agile course can be taken afterwards to gain more knowledge.
